Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads a Reliability Engineering team within the Systems Engineering organization; must be a hands-on leader with a people-first approach to leadership
  • Instills and inspires others to possess a growth mindset and continuous improvement culture
  • Able to articulate needed design changes to improve product reliability and influence and align with cross functional stakeholders on those recommendations
  • Collaborates with critical vendors (and manages vendor relationships and budgets) to provide reliability test results at component, subsystem, and system level
  • Adopts and deploys Danaher Business System tools and processes to continuously improve people, processes, and leadership within her/his area of influence
  • Responsible for reliability requirements; defines design elements to meet DFR requirements
  • Participates on core teams; responsible for overseeing reliability efforts across multiple projects
  • Directs the development of new test specifications, methodologies, and test coverage to ensure product reliability
  • Manages System/Design FMEA and Reliability Plans/Targets in NPD projects as reliability expert
  • Works with R&D, Manufacturing, Customer Care, and Quality groups to help resolve customer complaints/manufacturing issues during early commercial stages
  • Performs reliability prediction of failure mechanisms on products under development and products in the field
  • Perform statistical data analysis to predict product life, analyze process capability and perform risk assessments for new process and designs
  • Oversees the transformation of consumer requirements into product technical requirements and tests that validate product and process robustness
  • Collaborates cross functionally to introduce and lead tool implementation to steer organization towards best practices in product development (i.e. Value Stream Mapping, Product Road mapping, Gap analysis, Risk Analysis, etc)
  • Develops analysis algorithms necessary for efficient and intuitive handling of large combinatoric data sets
  • She/He/They sets the tone for a collaborative environment that values equity of voice, inclusive behaviors, and trusting teams

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education or Experience (in years): 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of experience OR Master’s degree with 7+ years of related work experience. Degree in a relevant field such as Physics, Applied Physics, Biology, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fluidics, etc
  • At least 2 years of experience leading engineers working on technical projects.
  • Previous experience as a hands-on engineer, scientist, or product developer

Knowledge and skills: 

  • Must have experience with complex product development, including developing and integrating complex instrumentation systems which incorporate optical, mechanical, thermal, and firmware components
  • Demonstrated strength in applying statistics, experimentation, and modeling to applied business problems
  • Well-developed mathematical and statistical analysis skills
  • Must have strong integration analytical and troubleshooting skills to understand system interfaces and be able to quickly analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system interoperability problems
  • Working knowledge of design of experiments, interpretation of test results, failure investigation and root cause failure analysis
  • Excellent communication skills.  Must be able to communicate verbally in an efficient and effective manner and be proficient in written documentation and technical presentations. Must be effective at communication with all levels of employees
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and comply with applicable FDA regulations and Company operating procedures, processes, policies and tasks
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including organization and prioritization of complex activities, comfort and effectiveness in providing technical direction to others, and quantitative delivery of team objectives
  • Working knowledge in simulation and analysis tools including FEA and CFD
